New Hyundai i40 Tourer

New Hyundai i40 Tourer

In the family estate car class, Hyundai's i40 Tourer stands out with extensive kit and practicality. Low emissions and attractive fuel economy levels also make it a sensible business choice.

A rear spoiler and silver roof rails help to differentiate the tourer from the saloon. Other bright body accents include the alloy wheels and vibrant chrome details. As an i40 model, the estate features body-coloured door handles and mirror caps, and a high-mounted third brake light. Dusk sensors are built into the projection headlights, activating automatically when needed. SE Nav models upwards are similarly equipped with rain-sensing windscreen wipers. At the front and rear, LEDs have been used in the daytime running lights and tail lights to save energy.

Smart aspects of the cabin design include front and rear armrests, one-touch electric windows and full ambient lighting. Both the steering wheel and gearstick are finished with tactile leather covers, increasing driver comfort. There is always space for luggage, shopping bags, tools and other large items. The 553-litre boot extends to 1,719 litres with the flexible rear seats folded.

Hyundai offers the i40 Tourer at four trim levels: S, SE Nav, SE Nav Business, and Premium. Every equipment level provides in-car Bluetooth with voice controls, a trip computer, and a CD/radio system with MP3 compatibility. A touchscreen navigation system features from SE Nav upwards, with a parking guidance system and rear-view camera.

The 113bhp and 139bhp diesel engines available for the saloon are also offered with the tourer. Both 1.7-litre engines incorporate Hyundai Blue Drive efficiency and Intelligent Stop & Go fuel-saving technologies. Up to 340Nm of torque creates smoother handling in corners, and that force enables the tourer to pull a maximum braked weight of 1.8 tonnes. To get as much as 63.7mpg from the estate, select the 113bhp engine partnered with a six-speed manual gearbox. Reassuringly low emissions levels across the engine range ensure that the i40 Tourer has many business motoring benefits.

Identically to the saloon version, the i40 Tourer received five stars following safety testing by Euro NCAP. The vast majority of Hyundai's safety innovations are standard across the entire range.
